ADAM ENGLISHBY 1 PADRAIG.

One of our first year studens had a brush with fame and celebrity recently when he featured in The Late Late Toy Show. Adam Englishby of 1 Padraig brought his Papercraft models to Montrose where he wowed presenter Ryan Tubridy and the audience alike.

So how did Adam end up on national T.V. discussing his hobby. We caught up with him shortly after and he explained that he had found the whole thing by chance on the internet. He said that he uses a programme called Pepakura to design a template for a model and then he prints the template or pattern out and starts putting it all together from there. He had heard that The Late Late was looking for unusual pastimes to feature on the Toy Show so he sent in a DVD of himself demonstrating his skills and the rest is history as they say!

Adam also explained about the amount of time that goes into producing one of the models. 'A forty centimetre Mario model took me two months to do so when RTE called me for an audition in October I brought with me a massive box of incomplete models. Despite this they called me 3 weeks before the show and said I had the spot so that's when the real work started so I'd be ready on time.'

Adam also told us about his day at the television studios. 'We left Dundalk at the crack of dawn and headed for RTE. When we arrived we were shown to where we would be waiting and waiting we did! We spent eleven hours there with one short rehearsal to break the boredom. Finally my turn came and it was all over in minutes. But it was worth it because of the behind the scenes glimpse I got of the studios and of course the thrill of meeting Tubbs!'
