Science Fair

.

The De La Salle Young Scientist students were invited to the DkIT last Friday the 14th of March to take part in a mini science fair. For the 2nd year in a row Senator Jim Darcy asked students to present their projects to the primary school students in Dundalk. The students were presented with medals and were welcomed to the DkIT by Dr. Edel Healy as well as one of the founders of the Young Scientist itself, Dr. Tony Scott. Mairead Mc Guinness (MEP) gave an inspiring motivational speech.

As well as the Young Scientist presentation, some Transition year and 2nd year students were asked to put on a Science magic show in a lecture theatre for the primary school visitors.

The boys confidendently displayed some of the more exciting Junior certificate practicals as well as a brief lesson on acids and bases. Well done to Transition Years Jack Watters, Sean Murray, Ryan Kirk and Cian Murphy as well as 2nd years Ben Verling, Steven Jiminez and Daniel Mullen who really left the primary students stunned by their scientific prowess!!!

And many thanks to Senator Jim Darcy for giving them the wonderful opportunity
