Ryan joins Nottingham Forest

Sports

Following in the footsteps of Liverpool legend Stephen Staunton, De La Salle student Ryan Markey is taking the first step on the way to cross-channel stardom in the red of Nottingham Forest. Ryan, who like Steve, possesses a cultured left foot, was pursued by Forest for three years. Chelsea, Aston Villa and Blackburn also pursued the midfield powerhouse but it was Forest that landed his much-coveted signature.
The set up of the Forest Academy and the fact that Forest have the highest percentage of successful graduates in England were the deciding factors for Ryan. He hopes, under the watchful eye of former Forest and England star, Steve Hodge, to follow the likes of Jermain Jenas, Michael Dawson and our very own Andy Reid.
Ryan has a three year contract with Forest which will bring him up to his nineteenth birthday. Lets hope he gets the present he deserves…a professional contract.
