PEER EDUCATORS

Peer Education has been running in the College for a number of years now. It involves Transition Year students undergoing a programme of training and then delivering a drugs awareness module to First Year students through the SPHE programme. The idea is that the First Year students are more likely to be receptive of such a programme from their peers than from an adult.

This year, four TY students, Jack Arthur, Emmet McEneaney, Seamus Corcoran and Kevin Murphy, completed the training and have successfully delivered their lessons to the First Year classes in the College. Next for the Peer Educators will be the delivery of a similar programme to some local primary school classes.

The Peer Education programme could not function without the cooperation of the First Year SPHE teachers so special thanks to Ms. Corcoran, Ms McEvoy and Ms. Nolan for facilitating the delivery of the programme to their classes over the last number of weeks.
