Haiti Fund Raiser-April

Charity Work > archives

EUGENE MOHAN

Past pupil Eugene Mohan has just left Ireland for Haiti in order to help build new homes for the victims of January's devastating earthquake. He is working with a charity called "Haven Haiti" for a period of one month in conjunction with other volunteers from around the world.

The programme operates by recruiting volunteers who undertake to raise 4000 euro for materials and the cost of their travel. Eugene received 643 euro from the college towards these funds, the proceeds of a recent non-uniform day, the rest he raised through other generous channels.

This was the second fund raiser for Haven Haiti that the school has been involved in. In early February the students of the college presented a cheque for 1200 euro to Niall Callan of "Haven Haiti". This money was raised in the aftermath of the earthquake from amongst the staff and student body.

We would like to wish Eugene the best of luck with this very worthwhile endeavour. He is truly an inspiration to us all. God speed.
