Gaisce - The President`s Award

The President`s Award is Irelands national challenge award for young people between 15 and 25. It is the country`s most prestigious and respected award programme and a challenge form the president of Ireland to young people.
The award works on the basis of a personal challenge set by the student themselves. There are 3 different awards that can be earned : Bronze, Sliver and Gold.
The Bronze medel is earned over a period of 6 months and 5 students achieved this - Rónán Coyne, Micheal Mc Eneaney, Christopher Brennan, Gerard Mc Bride, and Conor Mc Ardle.
The Sliver award is open to students over the age of 16 and is earned over a minimum period of 12 months - Ryan Dullaghan, Niall Rooney, Friderich Dunne, Cillian Shields and Conor Manning are currently working towards achieving the award by Christmas 2009.
Each award has 4 different challenge areas.
1. Personal Skill
2. Community Involvement
3. Physical Recreation
4. Adventure Journey

The 5 students completed their Bronze award on the 10th of May. There adventure took place in Carlingford Adventure Center on the 7th and 8th of May where the students worked on their team building skills. A great time was had by all involved, The students were with their certificates, pins, and medals at the De La Salle Awards Ceremony on the 12th of May.
