First Year Gaelic Blitz
To introduce De La Salle's first year students into their competitive and fruitful gaelic tradition, the school set aside lessons on Monday afternoon in mid march, to participate in a first year gaelic blitz. Organized by Mr. Cumiskey, 55 students took part in an eleven aside competition made up of a mixture of classes and clubs. Aided by Mr. Brady , Mr Carr and the Louth Coaching Squad each team was assigned a coach for the tournament. Using a league based system each team took part in 4 qualifying games. These were followed by the semi finals and a final for the De La Salle Cup and the De La Salle Shield.
All involved thoroughly enjoyed the event. Throughout the afternoon there were some fine displays of football inspiring hope for the future of Louth football. Because of the success of the day, De La Salle have entered two teams into the upcoming 1st year Inter County competition being held in Darver Centre of Excellence at the beginning of May.
Congratulations to all those who took part and best of luck in May!
