Coca Cola School Stars 2011

The TLT in Drogheda opened its doors to hundreds of hopefuls on the 2nd of October 2011, all awaiting their audition slot in this year's Coca Cola School Stars. The news that Louis Walsh would appear as a guest judge added to the excitement. Eight acts from De la Salle College made the journey southbound on that Sunday, day-dreaming about what might be! The De la Salle acts included singers Chris O'Hagan, Ciaran Lee and Brandon McGee, dancers Cormac Sheridan and Aaron Mathews and instrumentalist duo Conor and Ciarán McBride and finally bands Epic Win and The special Guests.
Following the auditions, the school received the call on Wednesday morning informing us that five acts would represent our school and would be in with the chance of performing in front of guest judge Louis Walsh while competing for a slice of the 5,500 euro prize fund. The acts included singers Ciaran Lee and Brandon McGee, dancers Cormac Sheridan and Aaron Mathews and instrumentalist duo Conor and Ciarán McBride.

On Tuesday November 8th, one hundred supporters made their way to the TLT including students, parents, friends and staff to support the five acts. Following a fantastic night of talent and entertainment, the results were announced, this time revealing that two acts would represent the De la Salle in the final: Ciarán Lee and Brandon McGee.
The night of the semi-final finally arrived and once again the supporters made their way to the TLT, this time on a packed supporter's bus. Ciaran Lee took to the stage as act number 10 and captivated the audience with his original piece 'Sunday morning' followed later by an energetic Brandon Mc Gee who wowed the audience singing Michael Bublé's version of 'Feelin' Good'. Twenty one acts performed in total, including schools as far South as Ashbourne and Skerries and north as far as Dundalk, including Ardee C.C, St. Vincents, Greenhills, St. Olivers etc. Unfortunately only ten acts could go through to the final, with the once in a lifetime opportunity to play for X-Factor judge Louis Walsh. Fortunately for the De La sale, after long and agonising deliberations, it was announced that our two acts will be performing on the 30th of November in the grand final.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish Ciarán Lee and Brandon McGee the best of luck in the final. Sincere thanks to parents, staff and students who have supported the acts in every step of this competition.
