A team of 5th year debaters from the De la Salle last week progressed to the second round of the Debating Science Issues competition. This nationwide competition for senior cycle students aims to stimulate interest in science through debate of topical issues such as stem cells, genetically modified food and nanotechnology. De la Salle debaters Evan Mc Adam and Kieron Breagy took on Loreto on the Green, Dublin in the first round of the competition where they debated the merits of vaccinating the entire population against influenza. The boys will now progress to the second round of the competition to be held in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in the coming weeks.
